Jamaica Land We Love (Jalawelo) is building partnerships with missions-oriented churches that are committed to the Biblical mandate to not forget the poor (Galatians 2:10). These churches truly want to help make a sustainable difference in the lives of hurting and vulnerable individuals .

The Missions Challenge
Churches today routinely engage in special mission trips and projects outside of their local communities. What we have found, however, is that most churches are generally not able to commit to investing in the types of longer term solutions that the poor really need to see a permanent change in their lives. Jalawelo partners with churches to help them extend the reach and influence of their local congregations.

The Jamaican Opportunity
Today, about a third of Jamaica's youth are unattached – i.e. not in school, unemployed, or not in a training course. They are susceptible to being sexually exploited and lured into joining gangs. Many grow up in poverty without access to a quality education.  Too many are witnessing acts and atrocities which would crush even the most resilient. These youth oftentimes had less that positive parenting experiences and go on to become themselves parents trapped in a cycle of poverty and hopelessness. Our conversations with people like these reveal that they often feel ignored and discarded by most in society.

These individuals need someone to love and care for them and to make a serious and sustained investment in their lives – socially, economically, and spiritually. Jalawelo engages with the whole person. This is hard work, but it is the work to which we are called.

We invite you to partner with us.
